Get Off Of That Laptop and Into The Real World

When you’re an online marketer, it’s easy to let all of your time get eaten up by your pc. Email, forum posting, web content writing, sales marketing–it all takes time and it’s very easy to lose track and spend your whole day in front of your pc monitor. And if you’re working at home, it’s possible you’ll go days or weeks without seeing other human beings. This is not good! Each individual and every business needs face to face time if things are going to run smoothly. This is also true when you run an organization that is based on the Internet. Exactly what do you need to do? How can you get out there?

The easiest way to get you and your business out of the house is to go to a convention. Every day and almost everywhere there are exhibitions and conferences taking place. Just about every niche and every market has at least a handful of different exhibitions or conferences. Select a handful of them (at least one local and one nonlocal) and go for it. They are good places to meet up with new contacts. You’ll leave feeling very empowered. It also helps you leave your home! Lots of fun can be had at conventions and conferences–you should try out a couple of them.

Drop by networking functions for your local business group. You’ll probably find at least a handful of of these put on by your local Chamber of Commerce each year. They probably have a list of other similar events that are being put on in your town or city. Participate in at least one function similar to this. Networking, obviously, isn’t the most fun thing you could do. That doesn’t suggest that you can’t have a great time. More importantly, these are excellent places to improve your local connections and business relationships. You simply don’t know when you’ll find somebody who can help you both build up your business and increase your income.

Consider leasing a space in an office building or in a “co working” office. This puts you back out into the real world each day while also giving you a space you could devote to your business. These spaces are generally furnished with things like break rooms, conference rooms, copy and printing services and so forth. There’ll be folks around to talk to when you get stuck. In addition to a non-residential address, this is good as it will give you someplace to meet your clients. This helps your business appear both more professional and legitimate.

Teach a class in your community. You are obviously an expert in your area of interest. Why not give a talk, a lecture or a class on that in your area? One of the best things about this option is that it will give you the chance to earn more money as you can ask people to pay an admission price. Besides helping you introduce yourself to local customers, you can use this method to flaunt your knowledge and skills.

Spending all your time in front of your computer, even when you are doing it to develop your business, isn’t healthy. If you honestly would like to be successful and to thrive, you are going to need to go out and spend time with people. Try these suggestions in the event that you aren’t certain how to start doing that.
