Remember that wonderful feeling you had when you first signed up to start your home based business, that flutter in your stomach as the excitement of a new opportunity was right there in front of you. Just like that, you had the chance to make great money, spend more time with family and have a residual income to support you for the rest of your life.
At first it was fun to talk to people and hand out flyers and throw parties to promote your new business. But a short time later, you wonder where is the profit? Costs are getting expensive and friends and family steer clear of you at the reunion and you wonder what you can do now.
What happened here? You did everything you were supposed to do, attended seminars and events and you have a great product. You were eager to tell friends what you had and you thought everyone would want it. But you are still spending more than you make.

Use the internet to search for ongoing networking events in your community. Given the increase in unemployment rates, there are more people looking for an alternative income source then ever. They are also more approachable than ever. In most communities there are events going on almost every week with people looking to sell their products and find a job or opportunity. But be careful at these events not to oversell your product or service to people, get to know the person you are talking to and see how you can help them before you jump into your pitch. If you are helpful and friendly the chances to build a relationship that turns into an opportunity will go up multifold.
Social Networks on the Internet
This rapidly increasing part of the internet can give you a rapidly expanding business if you use it in the same way you work a live event. Become helpful and friendly and get to know the person you are communicating to and eventually they will realize you have a good product for them, too. Pushing your product at the beginning of a relationship with someone new will just drive them away ” they think just another MLMer is trying to get rid of a product. So go slow and become a friend. You will enjoy it more, too.
Other Internet Tools
Webinars and eBooks and similar internet tools used to expand your list of prospects can be profitable without spending much money and in some cases you can make money with these tools as well. Go about using these in the same manner as described in the above two paragraphs ” provide the person with information and support on a friendly basis before you ask him or her to buy. That will augment your possibility of getting the person to join you and improve your reliability. This way of attracting people to your plan is called attraction marketing.
The key to using these plans ” internet or in person - to build your business is to offer more than you expect in return. Build up a connection with a prospect before you just try to sell something. If you have a good product, then your business will expand and you will be successful.
